  Overview

The Downtown Manhattan Heliport is one of the most advanced heliports in the industry and provides the ultimate in user comfort and convenience. The Heliport is located in a highly noise-sensitive area of Lower Manhattan and across the East River from the Brooklyn Communities of Brooklyn Heights and Red Hook. As such, helicopter operators are strongly encouraged to “Fly Neighborly” at all times and follow all applicable noise abatement guidelines and procedures (weather and safety permitting).

  Mandatory Restrictions

NO FLIGHTS OR APPROACHES OVER FDR DRIVE. ALL DEPARTURES AND ARRIVALS MUST TAKE PLACE OVER EAST RIVER (WEATHER AND SAFETY PERMITTING).

Additionally, pursuant to the New York City Helicopter Sightseeing Plan, no air tour activity is permitted directly over any Brooklyn communities including Brooklyn Heights and Red Hook.

SUN: 0900-1700

Pursuant to noise abatement restrictions established by the City of New York, Air tours are only permitted between 0900-1900 MON-SAT and 0900-1700 on SUN.

Facility may be used by law enforcement on a 24/7 basis.

The Downtown Manhattan Heliport’s primary Touchdown and Liftoff Area (TLOF) — the “H” — is located at the outer-end of the facility’s 550-foot pier. Other secondary takeoff and landing areas are located on the pier and the adjacent barge.

  Flight Track Monitoring

Saker Aviation Services utilizes publicly available radar-based flight track data to monitor air tour operator compliance with the New York City Helicopter Sightseeing Plan.

  Prior Permission (PPR) Operations

The Downtown Manhattan Heliport is a “public-use” facility and available for operations during its published hours of operation.

  Fueling Services

Saker Aviation Services’ state of the art fuel storage and dispensing system supplies high grade Jet-A fuel. Refueling operations are carried out during normal business hours and cease during severe weather conditions such as lightning, thunder storms, heavy rain or snow. All JRB refueler personnel are required to obtain FDNY Certificates of Fitness.
